SUMMARY:Movie Night at Cedar Lane: "Return" and "Canyon Song"
DESCRIPTION:Movie Night at Cedar Lane: “Return” and “Canyon Song” \nMay 17\, 2019 6:30 PM – 9:30 PM \nCEDAR LANE UNITARIAN UNIVERSALIST CHURCH\n9601 Cedar Lane\, Bethesda\, MD 20814 www.cedarlane.org\n \nPlease bring a vegan/vegetarian dish to share for 6\, or make a small donation! \nSponsored by: Cedar Lane UU Church\, EJM & the Washington Ethical Society \nInformation: Chris Graham text to 301-717-4204 or write to Linda Silversmith at linsil@usermail.com \nConcerned about the declining health of people all around them\, Native American women are sparking physical and spiritual rejuvenation through reclaiming traditional foodways. Return offers an approach to confronting the diabetes epidemic now rampant in Native American communities. Return Director/Writer: Karen Cantor\, 28 min. \nCanyon Song follows the Draper family as they practice traditional indigenous farming methods in the Canyon de Chelly Wilderness. As a portrait of two young Dine girls\, Tonisha and Tonielle Draper\, this movie artfully positions the historic with the modern. Canyon Song: Directors Dana Romanoff and Amy Marquis \nThis is a family-friendly event! Stay for supper and the discussion afterwards! Be inspired to follow our Green Sanctuary principles at Cedar Lane. \nhttps://www.cedarlane.org/event/environmental-film-night-return-canyon-song
