DESCRIPTION:350 MoCo Climate\, Music and Art Festival\nSaturday\, June 8\, from 11am – 2pm\nPiney Branch Elementary School in Takoma Park\n\n\nONE MONTGOMERY GREEN WILL HAVE A TABLE AT THIS EVENT.  STOP BY!\n\n\nWe will have an amazing display of ‘painted parachutes for the climate’ created by groups from across our County\, plus climate art projects for adults and kids’ climate art activities. Enjoy a GREAT line up of music acts\, highlighted by the D.C. Labor Chorus and including Son la Lucha and our own Jeff Weisner with NSO friends! We hope you can bring your kids and join us for a fun time where people from across the community can share some music\, some food and some thoughts.\n \nTo address the root causes of the climate crisis\, we have to tackle climate and environmental justice issues in our community. In line with that conviction\, 350MoCo is working to build a diverse\, multi-cultural coalition of groups across the County\, that can join forces on climate and environmental issues. Our June 8 event is a fun first step towards using music and art to build the diverse community we need in order to be able to work together.  \nHelp build our diversity within the fight for a green\, clean\, and more equitable Montgomery County! \n\nRSVP here and you will receive updates as they come\, but right now SAVE THE DATE for 350MoCo’s great Climate Music and Art Event\, coming up on June 8 in Takoma Park!

DESCRIPTION:Owl and Kestrel \nSaturday\, June 8\, 12:15-12:45 PM\, All Ages \nNational Wildlife Visitor Center\, Patuxent Research Refuge \n10901 Scarlet Tanager Loop\, Laurel\, MD 20708 \n The Visitor Center is located on Powder Mill Road between the Baltimore-Washington Parkway and Rt. 197. \nAll ages; drop-in program: no registration required. \nMeet two of North America’s smallest birds of prey: the American kestrel and eastern screech owl. Both expert hunters\, the American kestrel uses its acrobatic prowess\, while the eastern screech owl is a stealthy silent hunter. \nPrograms are FREE\, however\, donations to The Friends of Patuxent are greatly appreciated! Public programs are designed for individuals/families and require advance reservations by calling 301.497.5887. Programs are subject to changes or cancellation due to weather or low participation.
