On July 23\, the Medical Museum Science Café explores emerging DNA technologies in identifying historic human remains with scientists from the Armed Forces Medical Examiner System. They will discuss how the decades-old historical archaeology case of “JB-55” (Google JB 55 vampire panic) has been solved using next-generation DNA technology and profiles from genealogical DNA databases. On July 27\, the museum kicks off the Military Health System’s 2019 Bug Week with Bugapalooza\, an in depth look at which bugs are bizarre\, beautiful\, beneficial or downright deadly.
