SUMMARY:Anacostia River BioBlitz
DESCRIPTION:Anacostia River BioBlitz\nThursday to Sunday (September 26-29) \n\n\nAt Anacostia River Watershed\n\n\n jmontero@anacostiaws.org\n 301-699-6204 ext. 118\n\n\n Categories: Citizen Science\n\nCome to the River! \nThis is our third AWS-run bioblitz and it’s AWS’s 30th anniversary! Last year\, we were able to identify 454 species with observations by more than 1600 people! This is an opportunity to explore the natural treasures of your Anacostia River\, but more importantly\, it will be your opportunity to do citizen science to help us document the biodiversity of the Anacostia River watershed.  \nThe bioblitz will be a weekend-long event from Thursday to Sunday (September 26-29) where you can make your own observations using the iNaturalist app\, at your own pace\, from anywhere within the Anacostia River Watershed. On Saturday\, September 28th\, we will be hosting the only public event of the weekend where you can explore nature with other naturalists and experts. This is a great opportunity to be a nature geek and to learn about the identification and ecology of some of the river’s fascinating species. To sign up for the September 28th public event\, go to this link here. \nOur main tool is the crowd-sourced (and free!) iNaturalist app (https://www.inaturalist.org/home).  If you don’t have an iNaturalist account\, you can sign up by clicking here).  \nWe recommend you follow our Biodiversity of the Anacostia River project on iNaturalist: https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/biodiversity-of-the-anacostia-river \n  \nTo find out more: https://www.anacostiaws.org/event/216-anacostia-river-bioblitz.html \n
