SUMMARY:Webinar Series: Montgomery County Stream Restoration Listening Session
DESCRIPTION:Stream restoration is a complicated and passionate debate for many and can even be quite polarizing. It is not a black and white subject and can contain a lot of grey depending on perspectives. For this reason\, Montgomery County has created a webinar series to discuss the topic and various aspects of the County’s restoration program\, the techniques used in practice\, and future planning efforts. \nThe webinar series will kick off with an opportunity for residents to speak on stream restoration during a listening session on November 17\, 2021 at 7pm moderated by Sadie Drescher\, Chesapeake Bay Trust.  The session will be recorded\, and a summary will be provided to attendees. \nThe listening session will help shape the remainder of the webinar series (all sessions will be recorded and available to the public). The County values its residents and their experiences and wants to listen and learn from them. We hope you can join us throughout the webinar series so we can learn from each other and ensure Montgomery County has a clear blueprint for restoration success. \nWebinar Series\nMontgomery County Stream Restoration Listening Session\nNovember 17\, 2021\, 7pm – 8:30pm \nRegistration: bit.ly/MCStreamListen  \nResidents interested in speaking can sign up for a 5-minute time slot at: bit.ly/3p19vlA \nThe purpose of the listening session is to: \n\n\n\nhear from Montgomery County residents about stream restoration\,\nhelp guide the content of the remaining webinars in the series.\n\n\n\nWhen registering for the listening session consider these 2 questions to help DEP build the remainder of the webinar series: \n\n\n\nWhat is one top action you would like DEP to do to improve stream restoration?\nWhat one stream restoration topic would you most like to learn more about from DEP?\n\n\n\nFor more information:\nhttps://mygreenmontgomery.org/2021/public-invited-to-stream-restoration-webinar-series/

SUMMARY:ANS Conservation Café: RISING TO THE CHALLENGE: A New Climate Reality in the Potomac River Region
DESCRIPTION:Audubon Naturalist Society Conservation Cafe \nRISING TO THE CHALLENGE:\nA New Climate Reality in the Potomac River Region \nWednesday\, November 17\, 7:00 – 8:30 pm \nHigher high tides. Bigger big storms. More damaging floods. More dangerous heat. What else is coming to the DC region with the climate crisis? Read the report at potomacclimatereport.org. \nCLICK HERE TO REGISTER \nMeet the Speakers \n\nAudrey Ramming is the primary author of the “Rising to the Challenge” report. She is a recent graduate of Columbia University’s Master’s Program in Climate Science and Society. She also holds a dual degree in Biology and Environmental Studies from Salisbury University. She has professional experience working in corporate governance as an ESG risk analyst for ISS and as a journalist/data analyst for GlacierHub – a website that explores the world’s remote high mountain glaciers through an interdisciplinary lens of science and culture. Her professional interests lie at the intersection of climate change\, corporate responsibility\, social equity\, and the conservation of lands and waters on which all life depends.\nSara Amán is the Director of Policy at Potomac Conservancy\, and Project Manager for the “Rising to the Challenge” local climate report. She has been passionately advocating for clean water\, healthy lands\, and safe communities for 15 years. Protecting our local drinking water\, land\, and public health is very personal for Sara\, given that she started her environmental organizing & advocacy work as a teenager living in a frontline environmental justice community whose drinking water\, air\, soil\, and bodies were being poisoned by industrial pollution. She earned a BA/MA in Environmental Policy from American University in Washington\, D.C. In her free time\, she loves to garden\, cook\, hike\, meditate\, sing\, write poetry\, and spend quality time with family\, friends\, & community.\nAll registered attendees will get an email prior to the Café with details on how to join the conversation.\n\nRequested donation: $10-15. \nIf you have any questions about registration please email pam.oves@anshome.org
