DESCRIPTION:Montgomery Parks is hosting a series of free special events and programs as part of the 9th Annual  Latino Conservation Week\, July 16 – 24\, 2022 \nLatino Conservation Week(opens in a new tab) (LCW) was created by the Hispanic Access Foundation(opens in a new tab) in 2014 to connect Latino communities across the country with opportunities to get involved in outdoor recreation\, conservation education\, and advocacy efforts.   \nThe week aims to inspire the next generation of environmental stewards.  As the largest minority group in America – one that is expected to grow to nearly one-third of the population by 2050 – the Latino community’s role as stewards is critical to the future success and preservation of our nation’s public lands.  This year\, there are expected to be more than 160 events nationwide. We hope you can join us!  \nTO FIND OUT MORE  \n______________________________________ \nLa Semana de Conservación Latina (LCW\, por sus siglas en inglés) fue creada por Hispanic Access Foundation(opens in a new tab)  en 2014 para conectar a las comunidades latinas de todo el país con oportunidades para involucrarse en la recreación al aire libre\, la educación sobre la conservación y los esfuerzos de defensa. \nLa semana tiene como objetivo inspirar a la próxima generación de administradores ambientales. SUMMARY:DC EcoWomen Soy Candle Making Workshop
DESCRIPTION:DC EcoWomen is partnering with Relume\, a local company that aims to create a more sustainable world through quality\, handcrafted home goods\, textiles and accessories\, to host a DIY Soy Candle Making Class. \nThursday\, July 21  •  6 – 8 pm  •  Teaism in Penn Quarter \nPour your own soy candle with local candlemaker Lilly of Relume. You’ll select your favorite vintage vessel\, create a custom scent blend\, and top the wax with crushed flower petals and more! Relume will guide you in this unique DIY experience\, sending you home with a one-of-a-kind candle (and after burning\, the container is ready to re-use). Food and drink will be available for purchase at Teaism. \nEvent will be held on July 21 at Teaism in Penn Quarter from 6 to 8pm. \nThe event will cost $25; if you wish to attend but face financial hardship\, please contact anaidu@dc.ecowomen.org if a fee waiver is needed. \nRegister here>>>
