DESCRIPTION:Montgomery Parks is hosting a series of free special events and programs as part of the 9th Annual  Latino Conservation Week\, July 16 – 24\, 2022 \nLatino Conservation Week(opens in a new tab) (LCW) was created by the Hispanic Access Foundation(opens in a new tab) in 2014 to connect Latino communities across the country with opportunities to get involved in outdoor recreation\, conservation education\, and advocacy efforts.   \nThe week aims to inspire the next generation of environmental stewards.  As the largest minority group in America – one that is expected to grow to nearly one-third of the population by 2050 – the Latino community’s role as stewards is critical to the future success and preservation of our nation’s public lands.  This year\, there are expected to be more than 160 events nationwide. We hope you can join us!  \nTO FIND OUT MORE  \n______________________________________ \nLa Semana de Conservación Latina (LCW\, por sus siglas en inglés) fue creada por Hispanic Access Foundation(opens in a new tab)  en 2014 para conectar a las comunidades latinas de todo el país con oportunidades para involucrarse en la recreación al aire libre\, la educación sobre la conservación y los esfuerzos de defensa. \nLa semana tiene como objetivo inspirar a la próxima generación de administradores ambientales. This year\, the 9th Annual Week is being celebrated from July 16 through 24 with a Kickoff Fiesta at Wheaton Regional Park on POSTPONED TO Saturday\, July 23\, 2022\, starting at 5pm.  \nWe are excited to premier several stories created by participants of the Spanish Cohort of the Climate Stories Ambassadors initiative during Kick Off Fiesta on Saturday\, July 16!
