DESCRIPTION:Making Birding Accessible for All Will Be Focus of Latest Montgomery Parks Virtual Speaker Series on Tuesday\, Oct. 17\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe activity of birding—and how to make sure the popular pastime is accessible to everyone—will be the topic as Freya McGregor will be the featured speaker at 1 p.m. on Tuesday\, Oct. 17\, in the next presentation of the Montgomery Parks Speaker Series. \nMs. McGregor is a disabled birder and occupational therapist. She will discuss her company\, Access Birding\, which provides training to help nature-based organizations improve access and inclusion for disabled birders. \nThe presentation will be available via Zoom. Register here to access the site. The link will be sent to registrants the day before the event. \n“We hope anyone interested in birding\, beginner or experienced\, will join us to learn how they can increase accessibility for themselves and others.” said Ashlyn Thompson\, Montgomery Parks Inclusion and Community Outreach Specialist. \nThe presentation will be part of Montgomery Parks’ Birdability Week activities. A complete listing of events can be found on the department’s Birdability Week webpage. \nMs. McGregor is a military spouse who co-founded the nonprofit Birdability and now provides consulting and training through her business Access Birding to empower birders and nature organizations to be confident in improving access and inclusion for disabled birders. Her clinical background is in blindness and low-vision services.
