DESCRIPTION:Too many people are experiencing social\, economic\, and health harms due to an energy system that has put fossil-fuel profits ahead of people. Our energy bills are rising. Many of us are breathing unhealthy air\, inside and outside our homes. Greenhouse gas emissions are continuing to impact our global climate. It’s clear that change is needed now. \nWe invite you to an Energy Justice Town Hall: Understanding & Shaping Our Energy System\, on Saturday\, December 6\, from 9:30 AM – 2 PM! \nThe Energy Justice Town Hall is a free event that will educate\, engage\, and activate Baltimore City and Maryland residents to take action on equity issues related to our energy system. Through workshops\, a partner expo\, presentations\, and conversations\, we will address the health and climate impacts of how we generate and consume energy\, as well as issues around affordability\, reliability\, efficiency\, community decision-making\, and self-sufficiency in the transition to a clean energy future. \nThis event will empower everyday people to be advocates\, educators\, and change-makers as we work together to take control of our collective energy future. \nAgenda: \n\n9:30 AM – 10 AM: Registration and Light Breakfast\n10:05 AM – 11:20 AM: Workshops (Session 1)\n11:25 AM – 12:05 PM: Lunch and Presentations\n12:10 PM – 1:35 PM: Workshops Session 2\n1:40 PM – 2:00 PM: Closing Remarks and Networking\n\nWe will cover topics such as Coalition-building 101; Path to Public Power; What’s Causing Rates to Rise and What We Can Do About It; and more! DESCRIPTION:Join us Saturday 12/6 for Weed Warriors and Litter Pickup!\nWe’ll meet at Malcolm King Park to remove invasive plants and learn about the native plants that are found there. Under the guidance of experienced Weed Warriors\, we’ll pull out plants like multiflora rose\, porcelain berry\, and oriental bittersweet that crowd out the beautiful native plants and the wildlife they support. \nWe will also be picking up litter if that’s more your speed! Together\, we can make a difference for all the people\, pets\, and wildlife that call our greenway home. \nAfter we have improved the park for the enjoyment of all\, we will spend some time enjoying it ourselves! \nWhen? Saturday 12/6 from 10am-12pm \nWhere? Malcolm King Park at the School Drive Entrance. (Find the exact location in Google Maps here.) \nImportant Info: Wear long pants and sturdy shoes. Be aware that the plants can be thorny. All equipment will be provided. \nWant SSL Hours?
