SUMMARY:EPA Please Stop Smoking Rally & March
DESCRIPTION:Start: Tuesday\, April 04\, 2023  •  12:00 PM\nLocation: Freedom Plaza\, 1325 Pennsylvania Avenue NW\, Washington\, DC 20004 US\nHost Contact Info: quentin@chesapeakeclimate.org\nThe Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) keeps falling further and further behind in cutting pollution from dirty power plants nationwide. The result of these regulatory delays is that people get sick – especially people in poor communities of color – and the planet keeps warming. \nThis is unacceptable. EPA has the authority and the moral responsibility to issue at least EIGHT different rules that will clean up our air and protect our health from coal and gas plants. \nCome to Washington\,D.C. on Tuesday to tell President Joe Biden’s EPA: Stop chronic delays on its power sector regulations and move further\, faster. RSVP NOW! \nEPA is an essential player in establishing rules and definitions that govern our power sector and influence state and local environmental policies. EPA’s failure to meet its own self imposed deadlines means the President will not fulfill his campaign promises and could leave recent climate progress vulnerable to a future hostile Administration. We’ve seen this before: the Trump Administration reversed Obama Administration rules because rules were released late. \n \nThese delays have real-life health impacts on the American people. Join us on Tuesday\, April 4 at 12 noon to let the EPA know these delays are unacceptable. RSVP now! \nThis rally is sponsored by CCAN\, Alliance of Nurses for Healthy Environments\, Center for Biological Diversity\, Environmental Integrity Project\, Food & Water Watch\, Green New Deal for DC\, Hip Hop Caucus\, Interfaith Power & Light\, Labor Network for Sustainability\, Physicians for Social Responsibility\, and 350 Montgomery County. Please show up – it makes a difference. \nFOR MORE INFORMATION

SUMMARY:Poor People's Low Wage Workers' Assembly and Moral March on Washington and to the Polls
DESCRIPTION:Poor People’s Low Wage Workers’ Assembly and Moral March on Washington and to the Polls \nSaturday\, June 18 @ 9 am \n3rd & Pennsylvania Ave\, NW \n  \nOn Saturday\, June 18\, the Poor People’s Campaign (PPC) is holding the Poor People’s Low Wage Workers’ Assembly and Moral March on Washington and to the Polls. We are writing to invite you to join us as we head to the Mall that day for this historic\, critical March.   \nWhy should a climate action activist head down to the Assembly and Moral March? \n350MoCo is rallying at the March to support the PPC’s focus on acting against the interlocking injustices of systemic racism\, poverty\, ecological devastation\, militarism and the war economy. We clearly see that poverty and inequality muffle the voices and suppress the votes of the marginalized in our country\, allowing the economic system that drives climate devastation to continue and spread. Joining the March is a step in favor of climate justice\, towards greater equality and towards restoring our democracy to full health. \nWe won’t be alone in joining the March. A wide array of organizations involved in climate and social justice – labor groups\, the ACLU\, Children’s Defense Fund and our own local CCAN – are sponsors. Let’s swell the numbers on this great event! \nThe March will start at 10:00 AM on Saturday\, June 18\, at 3rd Street and Pennsylvania Avenue\, NW. 350MoCo will meet at 9:00 AM at the top of the Judiciary Square Metro stop\, by the National Building Museum entrance. We’re encouraged to wear 350MoCo t-shirts to show the wide array of groups stepping out in support of the March. Just let me know if you need a t-shirt. Signs and banners are allowed\, but no poles or sticks. More details are available on page 10 of the March Organizers’ Guide.   \nPlease join us! Sign up here to let us know you’re interested. See you in DC on Saturday\, June 18\, 9:00 AM!

SUMMARY:Fight for Our Future: Rally for Climate\, Care\, Jobs and Justice
DESCRIPTION:Join us Sat. April 23: Big White House rally to demand federal climate action now! \nOn Saturday April 23\, thousands of climate activists like you and me will be converging on the White House. We’ll be singing and chanting and praying with an urgent message for Joe Biden and Congress: It’s now or never for bold climate action.  \nFor more than a year\, Congress and Biden have been promising – and failing – to pass major climate legislation. They’ve been promising – and failing – to secure half a trillion dollars in clean energy investments with social justice benefits. Now United Nations (UN) scientists say we’re nearly out of time. \nIt’s now or never. Come to the White House on Saturday April 23 starting at 1 PM for the biggest climate rally of this decade. Join CCAN\, Green New Deal Network\, the Hip Hop Caucus and others for “Fight For Our Future: The Rally for Climate\, Care\, Jobs\, and Justice.” \nFor more information:  https://fightforourfutures.com/?utm_source=ccan-dc

SUMMARY:Virtual Rally and Day of Action to Pass the Plastic Bag Reduction Act
DESCRIPTION:Virtual Rally and Day of Action to Pass the Plastic Bag Reduction Act \nThursday\, February 4th  •  12:30 pm \nOn February 4th at 12:30 pm\, community organizers\, businesses\, and elected officials from across the state will host a virtual rally and day of action in support of the Plastic Bag Reduction Act. SUMMARY:Montgomery County\, Maryland—Rise for Climate! Rally
DESCRIPTION:Montgomery County\, Maryland—Rise for Climate! Rally\nSunday\, September 9  •  2 – 4 pm \nNow at Executive Office Building (EOB) cafeteria\, 101 Monroe Street\, Rockville\, MD  20850 \nDue to inclement weather\, we have made the decision to move Rise for Climate indoors. There are likely to be significant rain and wind gusts tomorrow\, and we want to ensure that R4C is a safe and enjoyable event for all. \nThe rally will now take place at the Executive Office Building  (EOB) cafeteria at 101 Monroe St. in Rockville.  There is free parking across the street from the EOB in the jury parking lot. The site is two blocks from Rockville Metro station. \nOtherwise\, all aspects of the event remain unchanged.  The speakers\, music\, and kids activities will all still take place as scheduled. And over 18 local climate groups will host tables. \nThis moment is a crucial time in our County and our world. We need a global —AND local — climate movement that our leaders will hear and respond to.
