SUMMARY:Energy Justice Town Hall: Understanding & Shaping Our Energy System
DESCRIPTION:Too many people are experiencing social\, economic\, and health harms due to an energy system that has put fossil-fuel profits ahead of people. Our energy bills are rising. Many of us are breathing unhealthy air\, inside and outside our homes. Greenhouse gas emissions are continuing to impact our global climate. It’s clear that change is needed now. \nWe invite you to an Energy Justice Town Hall: Understanding & Shaping Our Energy System\, on Saturday\, December 6\, from 9:30 AM – 2 PM! \nThe Energy Justice Town Hall is a free event that will educate\, engage\, and activate Baltimore City and Maryland residents to take action on equity issues related to our energy system. Through workshops\, a partner expo\, presentations\, and conversations\, we will address the health and climate impacts of how we generate and consume energy\, as well as issues around affordability\, reliability\, efficiency\, community decision-making\, and self-sufficiency in the transition to a clean energy future. \nThis event will empower everyday people to be advocates\, educators\, and change-makers as we work together to take control of our collective energy future. \nAgenda: \n\n9:30 AM – 10 AM: Registration and Light Breakfast\n10:05 AM – 11:20 AM: Workshops (Session 1)\n11:25 AM – 12:05 PM: Lunch and Presentations\n12:10 PM – 1:35 PM: Workshops Session 2\n1:40 PM – 2:00 PM: Closing Remarks and Networking\n\nWe will cover topics such as Coalition-building 101; Path to Public Power; What’s Causing Rates to Rise and What We Can Do About It; and more!
