SUMMARY:Sierra Club Maryland EmPOWER Webinar
DESCRIPTION:EmPOWER Webinar\nWed\, Nov 8\, 2023; 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM  (Eastern) \nOrganized By: Maryland Chapter Sierra Club\n\n\n\nLocation: Virtual\n \nEvent Organizers:\nMariah Shriner | mariah.shriner@mdsierra.org\nDanielle Levi | danielle.levi@sierraclub.org \n\n\n \nTransitioning Maryland households from gas to electric space heating and appliances is essential for achieving our state’s climate goals and reducing health impacts from indoor air pollution. EmPOWER Maryland\, our longstanding energy efficiency program\, needs to be updated to become an important tool for accomplishing this transition\, with EmPOWER rebates supporting households switching to electric in order to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. \nLegislation to EmPOWER Maryland to refocus it on reducing GHG emissions was one of our top legislative priorities in 2022. While our efforts fell short on the final day\, it will again be one of our top priorities in 2023. \nJoin us on November 8th\, from 7-8pm\, for an educational webinar to learn more about the EmPOWER program and how you can get involved! \n\nREGISTER HERE

SUMMARY:March to End Fossil Fuels\, New York City
DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, September 17 – March to End Fossil Fuels at 56th & Broadway in New York City.\n\n\nAnyone that went to the first climate march in NYC in 2014 no doubt remembers it vividly — as I do. It was a river of young people\, union reps\, Front Line community leaders and climate activists from all around the U.S. flowing through the canyons of New York City streets. The crowd was alive with colorful art\, music\, chanting and great spirits. It showed a breadth and political depth of the climate movement that we’d never seen before. The energy from that event carried us forward for months after.\n\n \nAs we all know after the hottest summer in recorded history\, this year’s first post-pandemic march comes at an absolutely critical time. On September 20th in New York\, the UN Climate Ambition Summit will gather world leaders to commit to phasing out fossil fuels\, to protect people and the planet. \nThousands of us from across the U.S. will take to the streets before the summit to demand President Biden take bold action to end fossil fuels.  Despite the Build Back Better and Inflation Reduction Acts\, the Biden Administration continues to green light fossil fuel projects. Both science and moral judgement argue forcefully against that. We need to stop fossil fuel build out NOW. \n \nJoin us in NYC on September 17 to get this message across loud and clear. Go here to read more about planning for the March. Sign up here for a seat on the bus going from Washington. Please list 350MoCo as the organization with which you’re affiliated; that will help us keep track of and support anyone from this list that’s going. It also will help us know if we need to line up another bus. We hope we do need to!
