SUMMARY:CANCELLED: Greenfest | DC Environmental Film Festival: "The Story of Plastic"
DESCRIPTION:GreenFest 2020 (and Film Festival) is cancelled due to the current health crisis.\nThank you to our wonderful community for supporting GreenFest. We look forward to seeing you in 2021.\nGreenfest | DC Environmental Film Festival: “The Story of Plastic” \nThe Montgomery County GreenFest partners are proud to join the DC Environmental Film Festival to present three documentary screenings in April at Brookside Gardens. These environmentally themed films are offered as part of Earth Day educational activities and lead up to GreenFest\, which is Montgomery County’s largest environmental festival. GreenFest will take place on Sunday\, April 19 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Brookside Gardens in Wheaton\, MD.  Visit the GreenFest website. \n \nThe Story of Plastic \nDirector: Deia Schlosberg\n(United States\, 2019\, 95 minutes.) \nWednesday\, April 1 / 6:30pm – 8:30pm / Free; registration required \nLocation: Brookside Gardens Visitor Center Auditorium\n1800 Glenallan Ave\, Silver Spring\, MD 20902\n \nProgram # 83625\nRegister using this link: https://apm.activecommunities.com/montgomerycounty/Activity_Search/78638 \nLink to trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gGVB9LEMHeE \nAbout the Film\nThe Story of Plastic is a seething expose uncovering the ugly truth behind the current global plastic pollution crisis. Striking footage shot over three continents illustrates the ongoing catastrophe: fields full of garbage\, veritable mountains of trash; rivers and seas clogged with waste; and skies choked with the poisonous runoff from plastic production and recycling processes with no end in sight. Original animations\, interviews with experts and activists\, and never-before-filmed scenes reveal the disastrous consequences of the flood of plastic smothering ecosystems and poisoning communities around the world – and the global movement rising up in response. https://www.storyofplastic.org/ \n  \nFull Environmental Film Festival schedule and information: https://montgomerycountygreenfest.org/schedule/dc-environmental-film-festival/
