Her Silver Spring home has been maintained by the Rachel Carson Landmark Alliance as it was when she lived there while working as an editor for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Learn about the personal challenges she faced while she wrote and defended the book\, including her fight against cancer which claimed her life just two years later. Following the tour\, we’ll take an easy walk along the nearby Rachel Carson Greenway Trail and reflect on her contributions to our environment today. \nSponsored by Montgomery History.  Register at  https://www.eventbrite.com/e/rachel-carson-historic-site-tour-and-nature-walk-tickets-56204701776

Documentarians Cynthia Wade (Academy Award winner for Freeheld) and Sasha Friedlander focus the tragedy around 16-year-old Dian\, a survivor who is routinely ignored by her government\, despite the unforgiving sludge continuing to engulf her home for over a decade. Chronicling the teenager’s transformation from a young girl into an outspoken advocate for her community\, this is a timely showcase of the urgent need for political activism\, the duty to hold those in power accountable\, and the perseverance of the human spirit amidst social and environmental strife.
