SUMMARY:DC EcoWomen EcoHour Speaker Series: Ona Balkus
DESCRIPTION:Join us virtually on Tuesday\, June 21 at 6:30pm for DC EcoWomen’s signature EcoHour for a conversation with Ona Balkus\, Food Policy Director at the DC Office of Planning. \nOna Balkus was appointed by Mayor Muriel Bowser in August 2018 as the DC Food Policy Director to promote food access and equity\, sustainability\, and the local food economy in the District. In this role\, Ona advises the Mayor\, District agencies\, and DC Council on food policy and leads the DC Food Policy Council (FPC)\, a group of 13 Mayoral-appointed leaders in the District’s food system and representatives from 10 District agencies. Previously\, Ona served as Legislative Counsel for the DC Council’s Committee on Transportation and the Environment. She holds a J.D. and Master of Public Health from Harvard University.
