Sierra Club Maryland Chapter<\/a>\u00a0is please to co-sponsor the Maryland premiere of the new pesticide documentary,\u00a0GROUND WAR.<\/b>\u00a0The free showing is hosted by\u00a0<\/i>Kentlands Community Foundation’s GO GREEN program<\/a>\u00a0with the support of additional co-sponsors:\u00a0City of Gaithersburg<\/i><\/a>,\u00a0Safe Grow Montgomery<\/a>,\u00a0<\/i>Beyond Pesticides<\/i><\/a>,\u00a0<\/i>MOM’s Organic Market<\/i><\/a>,\u00a0<\/i>Muddy Branch Alliance<\/i><\/a>.\u00a0<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

ABOUT THE FILM: Ground War\u00a0is filmmaker Andrew Nisker\u2019s investigation into the death of his father. Nisker\u2019s inquiry takes him deep into the world of golf, chemical lobbying, and citizen activism. Through his investigation, Nisker learns that the rampant use of pesticides around the world may be far more damaging than we understand.<\/span><\/p>\n

What chance do we have at creating a safer world for our children and ourselves? The answer may lie with the incredible people he encounters along his journey.<\/span><\/p>\n

Recent Montgomery County legislation that limits pesticide use in lawns is part of this documentary, along with highlighting local Safe Grow Montgomery coalition’s advocacy on this law. This film was shown earlier this spring at the DC Environmental Film Festival.<\/span><\/p>\n

Door open at 6:15pm, light refreshments and wine will be served as part of a fundraiser. Come early to visit and talk to sponsors and activists, and pick up relevant information at the sponsor tables, followed by 7:00pm documentary showing. There will be a discussion after the film with the filmmaker, Andrew Nisker and local environmental advocates. Donations will be accepted for the filmmaker Andrew Nisker.<\/span><\/p>\n
