Town Hall sponsored by 350.org<\/a><\/strong><\/span> \u00a0examines the Count\u2019s policy on fossil fuel divestment for the County pensions, stating that it is a\u00a0\u201cmoral necessity to use the County\u2019s financial power to fight the climate emergency and support a rapid and just transition from fossil fuels”. \u00a0The County\u2019s Board of Investment Trustees (BIT) holds our County\u2019s pension funds, over $50 million dollars, in companies like ExxonMobil and Arch Coal. \u00a0This Town Hall will examine the significant recent developments\u00a0in the world of fossil fuel divestment, as well as demonstrate the financial imperative to divest from the County\u2019s fossil fuel holdings. \u00a0A financial expert, \u00a0former New York State Comptroller, Tom Sanzillo, will share his experience with New\u00a0York\u2019s divestment.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
