“Reducing the Carbon Footprint of Fossil Energy: In Search of the Next Better”
Wednesday, May 29th; 5:30 – 8:30 PM
Industrious Ballston, 4201 Wilson Boulevard Arlington, VA 22203
How can we reduce the carbon footprint of fossil energy through carbon capture and renewable hydrogen? Hydrogen and carbon are the building blocks of our hydrocarbon planet. Kicking the fossil carbon habit means developing technologies for a ‘new carbon economy’. Products of this new carbon economy can cover the full array of the things we use every day.
Bill Brandon, the Chief Technology and Research Officer and Vice President for Leaders in Energy (LE) and the President and CEO of Industrial Ecosystems Partners (IEP) will be our moderator and a speaker. This article by Bill Brandon examines a number of related topics including how Germany is experimenting with producing methane from waste CO2 and H2 produced from excess renewable power capacity (see more on the Shell electrolysis plant in our Bookmarked section). In addition, renewable hydrogen can be combined with waste CO2 to make liquid fuels.
