In 2019, TPMEC’s advocacy focus will include climate-related Maryland legislation, particularly:
- CLEAN ENERGY JOBS ACT – Expand MD renewable electricity requirement to 50% by 2030 with a path to 100% renewable by 2040
- GREEN AND HEALTHY MARYLAND AMENDMENT – Amendment to MD Constitution to protect our rights to a healthy environment now and in the future
- EXPANDED POLYSTYRENE FOAM FOOD PACKAGING BAN – Single serving food packaging, currently banned in MoCo and PG Counties, to be extended statewide
- PROHIBITION ON USE OF CHLORPYRIFOS – Ban chlorpyrifos pesticide use in agriculture (currently banned for residential use)
- COMMUNITY SOLAR PILOT EXTENSION – extend community solar pilot program for five more years
