1st Thursday of Every Month
The next meeting will be on Thursday, February 6th, 9-11am (4825 Cordell Ave, 2nd floor, Bethesda)
Our mission is to protect and improve the local environmental resources of Montgomery County related to agriculture and food.
Focus issues include:
- Monitoring progress and implementation of the County Food Waste Composting and Compost Use Strategic Plan.
- Reducing wasted food
- Increasing the market demand for compost
- Educating about a healthy plant-forward diet
This meeting will feature presentations from Brenda Platt, Director of Composting Programs at the Institute for Local Self Reliance, and Josh Singer, Community Gardens Specialist for the DC Department of Parks and Recreation, Environmental Programs Department. Brenda and Josh will both share more information about their efforts to advance community composting in DC, and will discuss strategies that could be implemented in Montgomery County to move the needle forward on community composting efforts.
