Montgomery Parks continues its free monthly speaker series on July 18, with Scott Kratz, the director of the 11th Street Bridge Park and Jim Foster, president of the Anacostia Watershed Society. The 11th Street Bridge Park will transform an old freeway bridge spanning the Anacostia River into Washington D.C.’s first elevated public park, creating a one-of-a-kind civic space for recreation, education and the arts. The Anacostia Watershed Society is committed to cleaning the water, restoring the short and honoring the heritage of the Anacostia River. The society’s goal is to help make the river fishable and swimmable by 2025.
