Now more than ever, it is critical to train the next generation of outdoor leaders that will continue to educate the generations to come about the importance and beauty of our natural lands.

The Maryland Sierra Club Outings Leader Training will be an all-day event in which participants will learn how to plan Sierra Club Outings and respond to common occurrences.

Registration is required to attend. You must complete online training materials prior to the in-person training day. We’ll provide you with all the necessary details and support after you register.

If you want to attend but need assistance with transportation, please let us know when you register.

Additional Requirements for Certification:

• You must be 18 years or older.
• Must be or be willing to become a Sierra Club Member. Not a member yet? No worries! Joining is easy and all are welcome to join. Contact Lesley Paredes at lesley.paredes-hernandez@sierraclub.org if you need help regarding membership or accessing the on-line materials.
• Basic CPR/First Aid certification is required to become a Sierra Club Outings Leader. You will complete this on your own time, but financial assistance is available on an as-needed basis. Please reach out to Zoe Layton at zoe.layton@mdsierra.org for any questions.
• Work with a mentor to demonstrate necessary skills during provisional outings (we will support you connecting with a local certified Outings Leader).
