Stream Team Leader Training

If you love Rock Creek and want to help protect it, you can become a Stream Team Leader and be an ambassador to your community for Rock Creek and the stormwater runoff that threatens it. You must be trained as a Stream Team Leader before hosting any events with Rock Creek Conservancy.

You can invite friends, neighbors, schools, scout troops, and community groups to join at any time, and we encourage you to work with groups with an interest in Rock Creek. These trainings will also prepare you to be a site leader for our annual Extreme Cleanup event!
Stream Team Leaders are community ambassadors who support a healthy Rock Creek by engaging their communities in stormwater mitigation and park restoration. As a Stream Team Leader, you are responsible for:
- Organizing at least two cleanup events per year
- Visiting your stretch of stream or designated patch of watershed regularly to observe changes
- Notifying RCC (and the appropriate authorities) of any issues observed
- Conducting outreach; presenting at two or more community functions or hosting community education events
- Reporting activities, data, and volunteer service hours to Rock Creek Conservancy
