OMG is serving as the community liaison for the DOE Energy Innovation Prize award with its long-standing partner Bethesda Green. More information about the award here. Wheaton is a vibrant, highly diverse under-served community, home to more than 50,000 Montgomery County residents and is a designated equity emphasis area.
Position Description: This position is closed. The ideal Community Outreach Coordinator will be a Wheaton resident who is bi-lingual in both English and Spanish. This individual should be detail-oriented, have experience in community convening, be comfortable promoting justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion, and be able to comfortably interact with business and community leaders. The individual will be responsible for communicating/coordinating events and program information to the community/business partners, implementing developed strategies for educational outreach and managing/measuring the project goals and outcomes.

Administrative Operations

Program Coordination
- Answering email and routing to proper personnel
- Composing and mailing Thank you letters to donors and sponsors
- Compiling reports from website tracking
- Making inquiries and completing online searches as needed
- Managing the Executive Directors Schedule
- Maintaining and editing membership database (Constant Contact)
- Attend meetings and events hosted by One Montgomery Green
- Assisting with Website and eNewsletter submissions
- Contacting and providing information to the media for events and/or programs.
- Contacting other One Montgomery Green service providers or partners to complete projects
- Volunteer Management
- Clean Headwaters Project: Duties will include helping to manage the Clean Headwaters project and other pertinent programs/projects with local students and the general membership of One Montgomery Green.
- Climate Resilience Project: Duties may include providing support for public programs on climate change and managing OMG’s vulnerability assessment tool for key communities in Montgomery County.
Climate Resilience Ambassador
CLOSED: In response to the threat of climate change and its impacts in Montgomery County, MD. OMG has created the Climate Resilience project. This project’s goal is to engage and educate communities using a community created assessment tool and a response plan that addresses climate change vulnerabilities, resilience, and adaptation. OMG is looking for youth/adults age 16 and above to help with the Climate Resilience Project. We will be out in the Wheaton/Silver Spring area this summer engaging with the community to conduct the climate vulnerability assessment.
